The Lunar New Year Parade is not merely a celebration of a new beginning; it’s a vibrant mosaic of cultures, a tapestry woven from the threads of diverse traditions. It’s a platform for sharing, understanding, and appreciating the rich differences that make our community so special.

In the tranquil embrace of October’s gentle whispers, the members of the Kiwanis Club gathered, their hearts illuminated by a common purpose. In collaboration with The Douglaston Local Development Corporation, they embarked on a mission to reinvigorate the spirit of their beloved community by breathing new life into a modest train station, a sanctuary where weary residents sought solace after their daily toils.

Queens East Lt. Gov. Sandy Liew has won a free registration for this month's Kiwanis International Leadership Conference in Salt Lake City.

She was selected for the Art Riley May is Membership Month Challenge. She won because the Queens East Division had the greatest percentage of membership growth during this Kiwanis year. In addition to the free registration, she will receive $350 toward the cost of her plane flight.

In collaboration with other clubs from the Queens East Division, we visited Ronald McDonald House at New Hyde Park, Long Island. We successfully brought in non-perishable food, juice boxes, surgical gloves, masks, face shields, hand sanitizers, and gift cards. Kiwanis Club of Douglaston & Big Apple thank all the members who donated and supported this project.

The recipient of the 2018-2019 Distinguished Lieutenant Governor is Sandy Liew, Lt. Governor of Queen East Division. This prestigious award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the community and the club members in the district.
